Pelé, whose full name was Edson Arantes do Nascimento, played some of his best matches in the colors of his hometown, Santos, outside of São Paulo. Now, the club placed Pelé’s coffin in the center of the pitch for 24 hours to allow fans to say goodbye.
On Tuesday morning, a funeral procession will travel through the streets of Santos to the cemetery, where a private burial will be held.
